Myers, Emily

In1990, three years after graduating from Bristol Polytechnic in ceramics, Emily Myers became a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association, and the following year a Crafts Council Selected Maker.

Emily throws strong elegant forms in red stoneware clay and porcelain; once leather- hard, pots are often faceted or carved. A wide range of glazes fired in an electric kiln result in striking, variegated matt surfaces. Influences are diverse, from metal objects such as armour to organic forms such as cacti. When grouped together, the pots have an intimacy reminiscent of the still lives of the painter Morandi.Emily has shown her work in New York, Tel Aviv, Paris and Hamburg.

Exhibitions to date have included regular shows at Contemporary Ceramics in London and Beaux Arts in Bath.

Emily currently lives in North Hampshire with her husband and three children.
