New artists and gallery favourites…

We’ve stuffed the place full. No, I mean full…

Literally hundreds of paintings, pots and sculptures for the summer. There is something for every taste from every genre. Below is just a taster and I will be updating the website continually, so sorry for the delay (i’m going as fast as I can!) Don’t forget there is always more info on the blog for the most up to date news and events.

Jill’s artistic career began in theatre design including a running the design room for the RST until 1990. She was then ‘Artist on Tour’ with the Royal National Theatre for there 90/91 world tour, then artist in residence with the RSC in 1993.

From 1994 onwards Jill has painted full time with her work now held in collections throughout the UK and USA, Canada, Switzerland, Italy and New Zealand.

Jill’s working methods are varied, including oils, pastels and mixed media on primed board or 300 gm paper using a variety of techniques including thin washes, textured surfaces, sgraffito, palette knife and house painter’s brushes.

I usually work on several pieces at the same time, using sketches from the landscape and a fair amount of imagination. The landscape of the west of the British Isles influences me greatly, especially Pembrokeshire, Wester Ross and the Hebrides.

I visit as often as possible and hope to settle in the north soon.

Prizes include:

Sarah Samuels Fine Paintings Award
The Pastel Society, Mall Gallery
The Royal Society of Birmingham Artists
The Royal Shakespeare Design Award
The Arts Council Designers Award

Subjects include Isle of Skye, Argyll, the peninsulas of Keills, Sheildaig and Applecross, The Paps of Jura, Wester Ross and Torridon to name a few. Brooding, captivating, breathtaking… to many superlatives I know, but both the subjects and the results deserve them all!
