After Sally finished her foundation Course at Hereford College of Art, she studied Ceramics and 3D Design at Bath Academy of Art, graduating in 1971. Then Sally went on to study for a PGCE at Lancaster before she became a teacher.
Working in bronze is a new venture for me. I have spent some years developing skills as a ceramic artist, sculpting in porcelain, bone china and stoneware, and painting with colours which I make from mineral salts on raw porcelain. I love working with clay and the excitement of firing.
We keep Indian Runner ducks, so these small bronzes are the result of years of detailed observation.
The colours on the coloured bronzes are derived from minerals, and fixed with a heat process, comparable with glazing. They are all different and vary a lot within each series. Each duck is signed, numbered and copyright of the artist. They are cast in the traditional lost wax process for hot bronzes, hand finished and patinated at the foundry, then usually further worked on by the artist.

Barry was born in Watford in 1956 and originally studied 3D design at Barnfield College in Luton before tutoring there. In 2005 he took BA. (Hons) in Ceramics at The University of Westminster and during 2009-10 he was part time assistant at Edmund De Waal’s studio in London.
The experience of, drawing and painting out in the field, inspires and informs my work in clay. I choose to draw in places that are exciting to me and involve the changing pattern of sky, sounds, colours, freshness, layered views, windows of light, glimpses of new things, changing qualities and a sense of anticipation.
I love the processes involved with throwing on the wheel and I sense a strong connection between the way I wish to throw soft responsive clay, and the approach I take to drawing and painting. I try to work intuitively, endeavouring to make lively and spontaneous marks and gestures, attempting to be fluent and energetic, seeking some sort of meaning and coherence, trying to recognise the moment just before the work goes too far and loses its freshness.

Chinese art was founded on the very subtle differences one finds in the bamboo brush strokes of their calligraphy. He strove to discover the most meaningful limitation of the theme or moment and then worked to express himself within that limited convention and to discover the subtle threads within its form which echoed a fundamental human truth.
He graduated in China Central Academy of Fine Arts. Held exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Germany, Russia, Saudi Arabia .
“I find that painting furnishes a spiritual outlet for me, and makes it possible to cope more calmly with the stresses of daily life.
I hope my work conveys a transcendent sense of peace, tranquillity, and serenity”.

Jan Brewerton studied an Art Foundation Diploma at the University of Wolverhampton, a B.A in Fine Art at Coventry University, and, after two years in Italy, completed a post-graduate award at Goldsmith’s College, London. Primarily a painter, she has recently returned to an early interest in printmaking. Her paintings, mainly in acrylic media, explore the relationship between colour and pattern, surface texture, and the painterly development of layers or veils of pure pigment.
Individual works begin as close studies of everyday domestic objects – vessels, artefacts, implements, textiles, fruit forms, and natural materials. These motifs are transfigured through colour, and through multiple techniques of mark-making and collage within the internal architecture of the picture plane. Her interest is primarily in the complex balance of figuration and abstraction achieved in the painted image. Many of her recent paintings and prints have their starting points in objects and images collected during travels, particularly in China and India.
After many years teaching in specialist art education, Jan now paints full-time in her Plymouth studio, living and working between Devon and Shropshire.

Born in 1960, France
A diverse range of influences have informed the work of Françoise Dufayard. During the late 1970s Françoise studied ceramics at the Ateliers de Fontblanche in Vitrolles, then she travelled in Asia (1981-1982).
From 1983-1987 she worked for Gustave Tiffoche and Suzy Atkins.
Subsequently in 1988 she set up her studio at Rennes (Brittany) where she makes open platters, big vases, large dishes and witty teapots, using slipware techniques.
Françoise uses a red earthenware clay fired to1040C° in a 500 litre gas kiln. She has developed a very personal interpretation of terre vernissée, or slip ware, which creates a translucent quality that gives her decoration painterly qualities not often found in this medium. This can be attributed in part to her exploration of Eastern ceramics as found on visits to Nepal, India, Burma, Thailand, Japan, Korea, China, Uzbekistan and recently Tibet. Her evident brushstrokes can be read as personal reflections of this Eastern influence.
Francoise has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and India. In 2006 she was awarded the Sotheby’s Prize at Potfest in the Park.
