I was born in Cornwall and have grown up in a creative and bohemian environment, near the sea and the vast horizon, the specialness of this place having a profound effect on the way I view the world. My jewellery designs reflect the wild and untamed beauty of this peninsula. One of my material sources is ‘the beach’. I regularly forage and collect found natural objects from the beaches of North Cornwall, attaching these unrefined treasures to necklaces, bangles and earrings as charms and talismans. My design process is forever evolving, no two pieces ever the same, dependant on instinct and intuition combined with more formal cutting, soldering and joining methods of silver smithing. I am more than happy to undertake commissions and am at present working toward a ‘Prima Donna’ statement range in collaboration with an established 3D designer, due to be launched for Winter season 09.

Her pieces are all hand made one offs in silver with precious, semi-precious and hand crafted beads. There are many more besides what you can see here. Please contact us for more info and we will happily email more pictures

June Miles studied at The Slade from 1941 to 1943 (and drew maps during the war in an Admiralty drawing office) under Randolphe Schwabe followed by two more years at Art School in Bristol at the then West of England College of Art.

After the war she met and married the painter Paul Feiler (who became a leading figure in the post war St Ives School of abstract painters) and lived in Bristol, where her three children were born. She began teaching at the West of England College in 1966, where she taught evening class at the Queens Road site in the Illustration Department. She remained as a member of the Faculty staff until 1976. In 1968 she was a medallist in the Women’s International Exhibition in Paris. She is a member of the Royal West of England Academy, the Newlyn Society of Artists and the Penwith Society of Artists.

June Miles has participated in several group and solo shows which include venues such as the Royal Academy, the London Group, the Medici Gallery and the David Messum Galleries in London, Beaux Arts and the Adam Gallery in Bath as well as numerous galleries in Cornwall where she now lives. Her work is included in several permanent collections including Plymouth City Art Gallery, the Royal West of England Academy and the Bristol City Art Gallery.

She settled in St.Just with her second husband, the sculptor Paul Mount (who recently died) and is best known for her still lives and landscape paintings of West Penwith.

Very much a part of the St Just artistic community, June Miles staged a solo show at The Great Atlantic Map Works Gallery in 1998 alongside the distinctive ceramics and jewellery produced by her daughters Christine and Helen Feiler respectively.

The ceramic works of Matthew Chambers are born from a love of geometric and constructivist art, architecture, and design.

Mathew studied for his degree at Bath Spa University college before going to do a Masters in ceramics at the Royal College of Art.

Each piece is a constructed abstract exploration of shape and form combining traditional processes and contemporary form, designed to create a visual and tactile beauty and intrigue.

Minimalist yet complex objects built from layering many circular sections within a single form.

Carolyn was born in Singapore. She undertook a BA (Hons) degree in Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastic at Brighton Polytechnic and a Postgraduate Diploma in Ceramics and Goldsmiths College. She is currently Short Course Tutor at West Dean College.

“Living in the country I cannot ignore the seasons and the consequent transformation of the landscape throughout the year. This influences my work and referring to landscape studies in my sketchbook and the marks and brushwork of my life drawings, I work intuitively on forms developed from organic sources.

Responding to the material, enjoying the rhythm as I move around the form, I make marks of depth and variation, scratching and scraping through layers of slip, revealing the clay and emphasising the dryness of engobe or the softness of burnished slip; the silky surface emerging as polished as a sea worn pebble.

I work spontaneously, creating forms and surfaces that evoke the feeling I have when I am part of the landscape, not illustrating it but striving to convey nuance of shape, balance and mass and creating mood and atmosphere.”

Carolyn’s book ‘ Sources of Inspiration’ has been reprinted several times and her latest book ‘Pattern, Colour and Form’ is to be published in the middle of 2009.

Carolyn has a distinctive artistic voice and her work is to be found in many public and private collections.

Carole attended Matthew Boulton College and later studied at Lichfield School of Art.

Elected Full Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in April 2008, Carole regularly exhibits there and in gallery shows and open exhibitions throughout the UK.

In September 2004, she was selected as finalist in a ‘New Artist’ competition and her work showcased at the Autumn Fair at the NEC, Birmingham. As a result, a selection of her work has been produced as limited edition prints which can be found widely in galleries.

Inspired by the landscape, bold, vibrant colour and texture fascinate her and she strives to create exciting and evocative paintings. She paints in acrylics, watercolour and mixed media. Always looking for new ways to work, Carole believes this is a great cure for boredom and allows her to be more expressive.

She sees the use of sketches and photographs taken on location as a starting point only… tending to paint the way she feels about the subject as opposed to copying literally, giving her the chance to put her personal stamp on the subject. For Carole painting comes from the heart and it is something she is highly passionate about.
